A Relaxed Wedding Celebration at The Depot
Some wedding days are packed from beginning to end. Timelines, traditions, formalities and a hundred moving parts all competing for attention.
Becca and Dom’s celebration at The Depot was the complete opposite.
Honestly? It was brilliant.
The pair had already tied the knot the year before, so this wasn’t about ceremonies or ticking boxes. Instead, it was a chance to gather their favourite people in one place, share great food, have a few drinks, tell some stories and celebrate properly with the friends and family who mean the most to them.
From the moment I arrived, there was a lovely sense of ease about the day. Nobody was rushing anywhere. There wasn’t a packed schedule to keep up with. It simply felt like a room full of people genuinely happy to be together.

Why I Love Alternative Wedding Celebrations
As a documentary wedding photographer, these kinds of celebrations are always a joy to photograph.
Without the pressure of a traditional wedding timeline, people tend to relax into the day much more naturally. Conversations last longer. Hugs linger. Friends gather in corners to catch up. Family members laugh until they’re crying.
Those are often the moments that tell the real story.
The Depot was the perfect backdrop for it all. The industrial space has so much character, while the courtyard offered a lovely place for guests to spill outside throughout the day.
Although we had a little bit of rain, the weather mostly behaved itself. During the drinks reception, the sun kept appearing and disappearing behind the clouds, creating these beautiful pockets of light around the courtyard. I spent a lot of time chasing those little moments as guests chatted, laughed, and enjoyed finally being together.

Friendship Bracelets, Fantasy Football and Jamie T Tattoos
One of my favourite things about weddings is discovering the tiny details that make each couple unique.
For Becca and Dom, there were plenty.
Guests could make friendship bracelets, which immediately earned my approval. The inner Swiftie in me was very happy.
Later in the day, during speeches, Dom’s dad took to the microphone to announce the results of the family’s fantasy football league. What followed was one of the most unexpected moments of the day as Becca’s dad was crowned champion and presented with a trophy. Nobody seemed entirely prepared for it, which somehow made it even funnier.
The speeches also delivered some absolute gold.
The best man’s speech came complete with props and featured the story of a group of friends all deciding to get Jamie T-inspired tattoos. Everyone else sensibly opted for a skull design. Dom, however, chose the lyrics:
“Boy like us don’t shine so bright.”
Naturally, when Jamie T’s Sticks ‘N’ Stones came on later in the evening, the dance floor absolutely erupted.
As stories go, it was hard to beat.

A Quiz, A Tie Break and Some Serious Competition
Rather than moving straight into dancing after dinner, guests were treated to a quiz.
What started as a bit of fun quickly became surprisingly competitive.
After a tense tie break, Becca’s brother eventually claimed victory, proving that no matter how relaxed a wedding is, a little family rivalry is never too far away.
It’s moments like these that make every wedding unique. You couldn’t script them if you tried.
The Dance Floor That Kept Delivering
As much as I loved photographing the courtyard and the quieter moments throughout the day, the dance floor was where things really came alive.
The Spin Sisters kept the energy high all evening and somehow managed to find the perfect balance between crowd favourites, singalongs, and the songs that make people completely lose all sense of dignity.
Exactly as it should be.
By this point, the formalities were long forgotten. Shoes had been abandoned. People were singing at the top of their lungs. Friends were throwing shapes they probably won’t remember. The atmosphere was everything you’d want from a celebration like this.
Just joy.

A Celebration That Felt Completely Like Them
What I loved most about Becca and Dom’s day was how unapologetically true it felt to them.
There was no pressure to follow traditions for the sake of it. No expectation that the day had to look a certain way.
Instead, they created a celebration centred around the people they love most.
Good food. Good stories. Friendship bracelets. Fantasy football trophies. Jamie T lyrics. A fiercely contested quiz. Some questionable dance moves.
And honestly, what more could you ask for?
