A Tower Bridge Proposal

August 15, 2025

Ian & Allie’s London engagement — from the big “yes” at Tower Bridge to exploring St Dunstan in the East & Leadenhall Market.

Yesterday, I had the absolute joy of photographing Ian’s proposal to his girlfriend, Allie, right in the heart of London and what a day it was.

It was one of those sweltering summer days in the city, the kind where the pavements shimmer and every shady spot is claimed. Tower Bridge was buzzing with tourists, which I’ll admit had me slightly worried at first. Would we be able to find a pocket of space for this huge moment? But as it turned out, the crowd added to the magic. When Ian dropped to one knee, the air shifted and filled with gasps, smiles, phones were whipped out and then a wave of cheers and applause from complete strangers. London can be wonderfully unfiltered like that.

Ian had first reached out via email a few weeks earlier to share his plans. He and Allie were flying in for just two days before heading off to Ireland and Scotland for a cruise, where they’d be meeting up with their parents. We got to chatting about location ideas, timings, and logistics. All the behind-the-scenes prep that makes the actual moment run seamlessly. I always aim to choose a spot that feels personal or holds meaning, and in this case, Tower Bridge ticked all the boxes for a truly London proposal.

After Allie said the big YES (and after a few more hugs, happy tears, and claps from passers-by), we wandered off for a celebratory photo walk. My favourite part about these shoots is the chance to slow down and soak in the afterglow. For Ian and Allie, we hit some of London’s best backdrops: the serene ruins of St Dunstan in the East, the grandeur of Tower Bridge, and the whimsical charm of Leadenhall Market — a must-visit after Allie mentioned she’s a Harry Potter fan.

When I photograph proposals, my approach is always the same:

  • We chat beforehand to work out the perfect spot — ideally one that’s meaningful or unique to your story.
  • I help you nail the timings and plan so the whole thing feels smooth and stress-free.
  • Once the “yes” is said, I take you on a relaxed, one-hour photo walk to capture a set of images that truly feel like you.

Ian and Allie’s shoot was a reminder of why I adore proposals, they’re this electric mix of nerves, joy, and pure, unfiltered emotion and in a city like London, you never quite know who might join in on the celebration.

Planning your own proposal?

If you’re dreaming of popping the question in London (or anywhere else I’m lucky enough to travel), I’d love to help make it unforgettable. From choosing the perfect spot to capturing the “yes” and all the happy chaos that follows, I’ll be there to make sure you have the kind of photos you’ll treasure forever. IM CHARLOTTE

Family girl, dog person, people person.

I love good food, good movies, and good company. Early mornings, days of adventure, and cosy nights in.

I grew up in Hertfordshire and moved to Northamptonshire in 2019 with my crazy cockapoo Jarvis who I'm mildly obsessed with.

I've worked in the TV and film industry since I was 18 and love all things film, so much so, that I have an inflatable outdoor cinema screen which makes it's appearance in the summer evenings! I'll watch anything with Diane Keaton in more than once and am a huge 90's film fan.

I adore all things adventure and travel, New Zealand and Canada are high on the list along with a hiking/cycling trip in Madeira (would secretly love to apply for Race Across the World!)

I value the small things and a slower pace of life. Being in nature and connecting with people for me is the true meaning of happiness,  Appreciating the everyday overlooked. Being grateful for what we have, right here, and now.
